Automotive Industry, Including Suppliers – the region is one of Europe’s leading automotive hubs, with production facilities in Barcelona, Martorell and Zona Franca, and new battery plants planned near Martorell. Series production is scheduled to begin in 2026. The CIAC cluster comprises around 365 companies, including OEMs, suppliers (Tier 1 & 2) and engineering service providers focused on e-mobility, lightweight construction, robotics and connected manufacturing. Catalonia is also emerging as a strategic location for Chinese industrial investment (electromobility and consumer goods). Rail & Marine - Catalonia is home to component manufacturing and engineering for rail and marine. This creates a need for bolted joints in running gear, superstructures and interiors
